Norton antivirus annoying

In Live Update, remove the check from the option to be advised automatically if there are program changes. Under Miscellaneous, remove the check from the option to remind users automatically that new virus definitions have been created that need to be downloaded. This may sound dangerous, but the Norton software also is set by default to automatically acquire and install all new definitions. The continual reminder that you need updates is little more than a sales prod to keep customers aware of the service they are getting that would be lost if they failed to renew.

Let me add my own Live Update here and note that Norton's basic software changed a bit in the version for Vista, but users of Vista will find it easy to follow the prompts to the automatic notification options under Live Update and Miscellaneous.

I allow Windows to upgrade on its own. I also have become accustomed to starting my computer and walking away for several minutes while it boots up. It used to do this without any input from me. Because I am the only user of the computer, I didn't need to enter any passwords.

But beware: this is a scam message not sent by the official Norton website. However, this message is considered a scam because by clicking on it, your device might get infected with different viruses, or your privacy might be jeopardized.

Here is how you can do this:. That session will still contain the scam message, so the pop-up will show up again if you restore it. When you download Norton software, it will automatically install browser extensions. You can also decide to block only specific websites. Pop-up ads will now be blocked in your Google Chrome.

Sorry, I cannot offer a "pop-ups" solution. I do not run Smart Scan. Report Card Off. I got two pop-ups today for browser add-ons. I ignore them. Maybe, trial security solutions. Maybe, run Microsoft Defender. Please check your Norton account to confirm Automatic Renewal Off I have "specials offers" off and still get a ton of Norton pop-ups trying to sell me more services.

Pretty sure if I said "yes" to all of them my Norton bill would be astronomical! It's already pretty high especially considering they are actually removing features from my subscription like Norton Utilities.

I am seriously considering looking for another option or just ditching a 3rd party program and using WIndows Defender which has supposedly greatly improved. After reading hundreds or posts on this topic and my personal interaction with product Support I've come to the realization that I have two options. Before I go on my reading brought an Einstein quote to mind, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result".

With that in mind here's what I faced 1 do nothing and except the fact that neither my action nor Norton's inaction would change a thing. Just accept their intrusion and move on. Here's what I've come up with. I used the Revo Uninstaller to remove Norton and all traces of their application then to make sure I ran the Norton removal tool. Then I installed Malwarebytes Perm.

I then disabled Malwarebytes from registering itself to Windows security. Please include a link to this topic with your request. This applies only to the originator of this thread.
