Some were able to get around it by downloading the self-installing package and bypassing Windows Update.

Some were able to get it installed by first doing a Repair on Office itself first, and then installing SP2. But many others have not been able to install it at all. This directory normally gets installed on a machine during the original install of Office, and contains all the install files used during the installation.

I did that, and the SP2 update actually got farther - it started to install stuff but then stopped and asked for a particular file.

I found the file on the CD and pointed the installer to it, but it said the file was not found and quit. So my install still failed. It's not clear to me this will ever happen, but we'll see. I've got a problem with the SP2.

Can Microsoft please advise if an automatic fix or patch has been or will be released shortly as "I need a solution that doesn't involve touching each PC manually". This update has failed on almost computers in our network environment via WSUS.

Has this issue been addressed and a solution implemented in the "Microsoft Security Bulletin Summary for October "? Count me in as having the same problem. Tried through Windows Update, manual file download, using original install CD, etc, etc. Surely the MS engineers could've fixed by now with another pushed update??

I read in one post that it was recommended to completely uninstall and reinstall Office from scratch. What does the update address? It asked to restart, and after the restart the Service Pack 2 update installed with no problems it asked to restart, as well.

If the Routing and Remote Access service restarts, you may have to wait for several minutes until all the services are started. Delete the user that was created in step 6 of the "Upgrade process: On the headquarters TMG server" procedure.

Delete Firewall Engine exceptions created in step 1 of the "On the branch office TMG server when it is connected" procedure. To do this, follow these steps:. In the command output, locate any dynamic and persistent IDs that corresponds to the IP range that you added in the "Upgrade process: On the headquarters TMG server" procedure. Run the following commands. Use values for x that correspond to the dynamic IDs and use values for y that correspond to the persistent IDs that you found in step 1.

Delete the dial-up connection that you created in step 2 of the "Upgrade process: On the branch office TMG server when it is connected" procedure. Need more help? Expand your skills. Get new features first. Was this information helpful? Yes No. Thank you!
