Cannot open google chrome windows xp

Could it be someone broke the internet?!? All the network settings are correct, I can ping internal and external sites or addresses, resolve internal and external sites as well. But when I start any browser Firefox, Chrome, IE the site is found, the message in the task bar says loading lets say google.

I tried doing this as it is one of my first troubleshooting routines but it didnt make a difference. I even reinstalled the network drivers. I could use email and any other web based program except web browsers. May i suggest Hitman Pro 3. My first thought is that it possibly some sort of malicious software or possibly a root kit, something that maybe spreads via open network shares but can't install itself onto Windows 7 or Vista machines because of UAC or related tech.

Have done scans on these machines for anything? Are you just trying to get to google? Or do other sites do the same? I know there is a rootkit that specificaly stops browsers from going to Google or Bing forces the machine to resolve them to some ip, which is pingable. Not a good idea. Most viruses will infect the restore point data, so it may look fixed, but in some time the infection may come back.

A good practice in this type of thing is to turn off system restore. Clean the computer, wipe out the restore cache then re-enable and it and create a restore point. Only way you'll know for sure that it's gone.

I thought that it might have been a malware problem but when my users at home started having the issue it kinda makes me wonder. As you described it though im having the exact same issue. Only other advice I can give is to run AVG rescue disc. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall but the problem is still there.

I refer to this thread to try to use tdsskiller. Any idea? It's possible you're using a Beta version of Chrome and it just doesn't like something to do with your system. If you can figure out which version your running and make sure it isn't a beta, then you might be lucky. If not, you could try opening it using your terminal and see if there is any relevant output that gets spit out at you. If all else fails, my guess if some kind of virus.

Anything else 'freaky' happening to your computer? You can try uninstalling chrome then delete the folder in program files then install chrome. This should fix the problem. My problems is because my computer is infected by some Trojan or malware that modify some registry setting. It cannot open some type of.
